Our second event is on Wednesday, 29 March 2023 at the Hôtel Plaza Athénée, from 14h30 to 18h00. In person (limited seating) or by Zoom.

This event will feature two panels:

The first on "The Ferocious Divide: What Future for the Modernised ECT?" (14h30 to 16h00).

Speakers:
• Lorena Fatas Perez (Ministry of Justice, Kingdom of Spain)
• Graham Coop (Partner, Pinsent Masons; former General Counsel, ECT)
• Anna Kozmenko (Partner, Schellenberg Wittmer)
• Prof. Loukas Mistelis (Professor, Queen Mary University; Partner, Clyde & Co)
• Moderator: Gustavo Laborde (Partner, Laborde Law)

The panel will address four main questions:
• Background and purpose of the original ECT.
• Why is the modernisation process of the ECT taking place? Driving forces.
• Is the ECT incompatible with the Paris Accords/climate change goals?
• What specific provisions are at the centre of the modernisation process? (Arts. 7, 10 and 26; "covered investment").

The second on "The Business of Arbitration: State of the Third Party Funding Market" (16h30 to 18h00)
