About us
The Energy Disputes Arbitration Center (EDAC), headquartered in Ankara, Turkey, is an independent and impartial arbitration centre established by the Energy Law Research Institute. Founded with the belief that energy disputes can be resolved more effectively by an institution specialised in this field, EDAC is the first and only sectoral arbitration centre focused on energy disputes and aims to become an international forum for the resolution of these disputes.
EDAC consists of the Secretariat, the National Board, the International Board, Consultants and Representatives. With a view to promoting diversity, EDAC has brought together prominent figures from the energy sector from different regions in its International Board. By establishing a separate unit for each region under the Secretariat, a perspective has been adopted that takes into account the dynamics of that region and reflects those dynamics in the management of the dispute settlement process. EDAC also has regional representations in Africa and the MENA region, and country representations in the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Japan, Pakistan, Kenya and Rwanda.

The Energy Disputes Arbitration Center (EDAC), headquartered in Ankara, Turkey, is an independent and impartial arbitration centre established by the Energy Law Research Institute. Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) contracts are no longer merely long-term supply agreements. They are instruments of energy security, geopolitical leverage, financial exposure and regulatory tension.\r\n
\r\n In an era shaped by price shocks, sanctions regimes, export restrictions, supply chain fragmentation and the accelerating energy transition, LNG contracts have become pressure points in global commerce. When markets destabilize, pricing formulas fracture. When states intervene, performance becomes uncertain. When supply is disrupted, contractual equilibrium collapses.\r\n
\r\n Disputes arising from LNG Sale and Purchase Agreements, terminal access arrangements and shipping contracts are therefore rarely confined to pure contractual interpretation. They often involve structural economic imbalance, force majeure in politically charged environments\r\n
Sanctions-driven non-performance, take-or-pay exposure under extreme volatility and change-in-law risks across multiple jurisdictions.\r\n
\r\n International arbitration has emerged as the preferred forum for resolving these disputes not simply because of neutrality — but because it offers procedural adaptability in a sector defined by unpredictability.\r\n
