Presentation

Currently, international arbitration stands at a crossroads. The continuous development of technology with virtual hearings, AI assistance in case management, and blockchain-based tools is reshaping the law and arbitral proceedings. It is evident that, apart from their innovation efficiency, they also raise concerns regarding transparency, due process, data protection, and the distribution of control about digital infrastructures.
On the other hand, sustainability is no longer peripheral. ESG clauses, climate‑related disputes, and the "greener arbitrations" movement are transforming both the subject‑matter of disputes and procedural expectations.
Both situations take place within a world that is said to experience the broader shift of power with the rise of actors from the Global South and renewed scrutiny of legitimacy, diversity, and inclusiveness in arbitral decision-making.
In the dynamic world of such situations, arbitrators are increasingly called upon to balance investor protection with states' regulatory space for environmental objectives in view of technology development, with the assurance that arbitration can operate as a credible forum for the resolution of disputes in a disrupted world. This special event shall, in particular, aim to apprise that International Arbitration's future legitimacy will be determined by how it meets the interlocking challenges of technological development, sustainability, and changing power
dynamics.
After the discussions of the round table, the HAAART International Court of Arbitration (HICA) will be introduced.. HICA offers a neutral, technologically enabled, and non-adversarial forum capable of addressing complex sovereign disputes. Its emphasis on mediation and conciliation over rigid adjudication enables outcomes that are politically acceptable, economically viable, and environmentally sustainable—an essential requirement in today’s interconnected world.
Following the event, we will have a cocktail and our distinguished participants will join us for the launch of HICA.
