Presentation
Over the past years various restrictive measures imposed on Russian or Russian-related persons have become a significant hurdle to access arbitration. As a result, Russian and CIS parties started looking to diversify the traditional list of arbitral seats and arbitration institutions. In the meantime, pending and anticipated arbitrations have involved various complications arising out of restrictions and increased compliance.
This is against the background of increasing number of high profile CIS-related disputes that involve sanctions issues, revolve around sanctions or arise out of disruptions caused by the sanctions.
