Sign inMaking the OIC investment agreement work: the case for reform
Presentation
Join us for a timely and thought-provoking discussion on the future of investment frameworks within the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
As global investment dynamics shift and reform efforts gain momentum, this event will critically examine whether existing OIC Investment Agreements can be meaningfully reformed to meet contemporary challenges — or whether more fundamental reconsideration is required. At the heart of the discussion lies an important question: to what extent do investors have access to a range of protection frameworks and dispute resolution avenues, and in what circumstances might the OIC framework serve as the primary available mechanism?
For certain states and investors, the OIC framework may represent not merely an option, but the principal (or even sole) multilateral investment structure available to them. This reality adds particular urgency to the question of how robust, modern, and responsive the OIC regime should be.
Bringing together leading experts and practitioners, the session will explore key legal, economic, and strategic issues surrounding intra-OIC investment protection and dispute resolution. Participants will engage in a forward-looking dialogue on how OIC agreements can evolve to address contemporary needs and respond to developments in the global investment environment.
The event will be hosted by Freshfields, providing a platform for meaningful exchange and collaborative reflection on the path ahead.
The speakers lineup continues to grow, with further distinguished guests to be confirmed in the coming days.
