The rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in arbitration is transforming the roles of counsel and arbitrators, streamlining processes while raising ethical and procedural challenges. While technology promotes greater inclusion in international arbitration, disparities in access persist, especially in Africa and underrepresented jurisdictions. Practitioners in these regions face significant hurdles, which arbitral institutions can address through capacity-building, funding, and improved access to digital tools. Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platforms are expanding worldwide, but equitable access remains a concern. As digital disputes in areas like digital banking, finance, and smart contracts increase, arbitration must evolve to address the complexities of these technology-driven disputes.
