Secretary General

Berceste Elif Duranay is the Secretary General of the Energy Disputes Arbitration Center (EDAC). She specialises in international arbitration, asset recovery, and complex cross-border corporate matters. She advises multinational corporations, investors, and high-net-worth individuals on protecting, restructuring, and enforcing their commercial interests, with particular expertise in the energy, mining, infrastructure, petrochemicals, and technology sectors.

Elif provides strategic legal counsel to clients navigating high-stakes disputes, regulatory exposure, and distressed or adversarial situations. Her practice focuses on international dispute resolution, fraud-related matters, and the recognition and enforcement of foreign court judgments and arbitral awards. She regularly represents clients in asset tracing and recovery proceedings, interim relief applications, and enforcement strategy development, particularly in matters involving Türkiye and other cross-border enforcement contexts.

In addition to her disputes practice, Elif advises clients on cross-border mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic investments. She supports investors and corporations throughout the lifecycle of transactions from structuring and risk assessment to negotiation and execution ensuring legal certainty while aligning legal strategy with commercial objectives. She is particularly valued for her ability to combine legal expertise with strategic insight, helping clients anticipate risks, manage crises, and implement effective long-term solutions.

Earlier in her career, Elif worked at leading domestic and international law firms and later served as in-house counsel at one of Türkiye’s largest industrial holdings, comprising publicly listed companies in the oil and gold mining sectors. This experience provides her with a strong commercial perspective and a deep understanding of corporate decision-making processes.
