Dorieke OVERDUIN

Dorieke Overduin is Counsel at Sovereign Arbitration Advisors, based in Washington D.C. She has acted in ICSID and UNCITRAL arbitration proceedings, appeared before the European Court of Justice, and represented governments in national court proceedings across diverse jurisdictions in the EU and the USA. Dorieke is qualified to practice law in the Netherlands and New York, USA.

With over a decade of experience in the public sector, Dorieke served as in-house counsel for the EU and the Dutch government. She led the Dutch government’s legal team in international litigation and arbitration and was the principal author of the 2019 Dutch Model Bilateral Investment Treaty. Her expertise spans international economic law, including the implementation and enforcement of sanctions, investment screening mechanisms, and the protection of national security interests.
