Gabriele RUSCALLA

Gabriele brings over twelve years of experience in international arbitration. He has represented corporate clients, states, and state entities across Europe, the Middle East, the Gulf Region and Africa in both investor-State and commercial arbitrations. His areas of expertise encompass distribution, construction, M&A, international commerce (sales and purchases, bank guarantees, etc.), energy, and oil & gas sectors. He has also specialized in investment protection, public international law, and related matters such as ESG, corruption defense and economic sanctions.

Gabriele has deep experience with complex and technical disputes under both civil law (Italy, France, Switzerland, Belgium, Qatar, Algeria, Kuwait, RDC, etc) and common law systems (USA and UK), as well as international and transnational laws. He is well-versed in all major arbitration rules, including ICC, LCIA, SIAC, SAC, CCJA, ICSID, CEPANI and UNCITRAL.

Additionally, Gabriele handles matters concerning the setting aside or recognition and enforcement of arbitral awards before national courts, and acts as an arbitrator in commercial disputes.

Prior to joining Liedekerke, Gabriele served as Counsel at the ICC International Court of Arbitration, where he gained extensive knowledge of the ICC arbitration rules and practices, and managed a team administering over 300 arbitrations proceedings. His professional background also includes positions as Senior Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for International, European and Regulatory Procedural Law, and as an associate in the International Arbitration Group of a major US law firm in Paris.

Gabriele is Adjunct Professor of Business and Human Rights at IE Law School and teaches arbitration at the Paris Campus of the Catholic University of Lille. He is admitted to the Paris Bar (Avocat à la Cour). He speaks and works in English, French and Italian.
