Laurent is an Independent Counsel and Arbitrator, founder in 2025 of Gouiffès Arbitration, a boutique law firm based in Paris. He has 30 years of experience of international arbitration, both as Counsel in more than 150 commercial and investment disputes, and as Arbitrator in 30 cases. He is also the arbitrator of SHIAC.

As Counsel, he has represented major corporations, state-owned entities and States in high profile, complex mediations, expertise and international arbitrations. He has extensive experience of arbitration under the ICC, LCIA, ICSID and UNCITRAL Rules, amongst others. With a focus on energy-related, technological and industrial disputes, he regularly acts on behalf of clients in the oil and gas, mining, electricity, nuclear, aerospace and telecommunications industries as well as on behalf of States.

As Arbitrator, he has acted as Sole arbitrator, party appointed or Presiding arbitrator, notably under the ICC, LCIA and CAM Rules as well as in ad hoc cases.

Laurent regularly speaks and publishes on topical issues in arbitration, energy and public/private international law, including giving lectures on arbitration at Panthéon Sorbonne and Sciences Po Paris for the past ten years.

Laurent is a dual qualified lawyer as Avocat à la Cour in Paris and Solicitor of England and Wales. His working languages are French, English and Italian, with knowledge of German and Spanish.
