Tarek ELTUMI
Tarek is the founder and a partner at Eltumi Partners. Driven by the aim to create a law firm that would meet the complex, fast-paced needs of both international and Libyan clients, Tarek brings his vision and wealth of legal and commercial expertise to the team. With a highly regarded career that has spanned multiple continents and legal systems, Tarek has acted for the biggest energy and infrastructure companies in the world on a range of innovative and complex contentious and non-contentious matters.
Formerly a partner at the London offices of Hogan Lovells International LLP and general counsel at the Libyan branch of AECOM Inc., Tarek has substantial experience advising international upstream energy companies, commercial banks, multilateral lending agencies, contractors, project sponsors and developers. He focuses on all aspects of upstream and downstream hydrocarbon matters, renewable energy and conventional power projects, corporate M&A and social and economic infrastructure. In addition, Tarek is regularly instructed as expert witness and counsel on major international arbitral and court disputes.
Clients benefit from his deep and nuanced understanding of civil and common law jurisdictions and international best practices, in addition to his clarity of thought and determination in achieving clients’ commercial and strategic objectives. He assists clients in preparing and negotiating agreements, identifying strategic objectives and risks, and applying a thoughtful and dynamic approach to representing their interests.
Based in our London office and regularly working from offices across our network, Tarek is fluent in English and Arabic and is a qualified lawyer in Libya, the State of New York and England and Wales.
