Valikhan Shaikenov is qualified in Kazakh law and other post-Soviet legal systems.

With 20 years of experience in international arbitration and civil law, he specializes in guiding clients through complex legal disputes and developing strategic solutions. His expertise encompasses international commercial and investment arbitration, civil law, and litigation. He has successfully represented clients in high-stakes arbitration cases involving multi-million-dollar disputes, including intricate cross-border matters, and has been appointed as an arbitrator by leading arbitration institutions around the world.

His key projects include cases in sectors such as energy, international trade, construction, shareholder disputes, debt restructuring, and tax litigation. As an arbitrator, he has handled cases governed by diverse legal systems, including English, Swiss, U.S., Russian, and Uzbek laws, with parties from the UK, Switzerland, the U.S., Russia, and Kazakhstan.

He currently serves as a delegate to the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR and co-chairs the KazBar Arbitration and Litigation Committee. His mission is to protect clients’ interests in international disputes and to craft winning strategies that ensure success in arbitration proceedings.

Appointed by ICC Ukraine, he serves as a delegate to the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR. His recognition in the field is substantial; he is highlighted as a Thought Leader in the 2024 Who’s Who Legal report for Germany, where he is listed among the top 25 arbitration practitioners based in Germany and 433 lawyers worldwide, including 28 barristers. In addition, Valikhan has earned individual recognitions from prominent legal directories such as Legal 500, Chambers & Partners, Asialaw Profiles, IFLR, and the Legal 500 Arbitration Powerlist: CIS 2020.
