Peter THORP

Peter Thorp is an independent arbitrator and arbitration counsel based in Paris. He is a former partner of the law firm Allen & Overy LLP and was from 2005 to 2011 Managing Partner of Allen & Overy's Beijing and Shanghai offices before joining the firm’s Paris office.

Peter has substantial experience in dispute resolution matters, and has acted for a wide range of corporates and financial institutions in arbitrations seated in Asia, the UK and continental Europe. Peter has also acted on investment treaty arbitration matters related to China.

Peter now acts exclusively as an arbitrator, and is on the Panel of Arbitrators of the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre, the Singapore International Arbitration Centre, the Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration and CIETAC, China's largest international arbitration commission. He has acted as Sole Arbitrator, Co-Arbitrator and Chairman on a number of ICC, LCIA, CIETAC, HKIAC and SIAC arbitrations, as well as arbitrations under the UNCITRAL Rules.

Peter speaks (and writes) English, Mandarin and French and is qualified in England and Wales, Hong Kong, New Zealand and France.
